This kid at work (Scott) does not appreciate my monotonous voice and requested I alter it, as though I exist merely to appease people such as him. Through my entire shift he harassed me (verbally) with his insincere, inane "conversation-starters" as he called them. If he dislikes the sound of my voice, I abhor the sound of his.
When Scott asks me a one-ended question, I give him a one-ended answer: I remain silent, simply looking at his face until he walks away or ignoring him completely if I am completing a work-related task. He expects attention, but I do not have to give it to him.
