The Velveteen Rabbit

Kailey and Eddie spent the entire morning arguing with each other back-and-forth, back-and-forth, whilst both The Father and I tried to sleep in our respective bedrooms. I heard The Mongoloid scream at them several times to desist (his actual words were "shut up"); when I finally came down the stairs, I told them they were both pretty pathetic if Captain Annoying over there (he was watching one of his cute little Metallica videos) had to tell them they were behaving obnoxiously.

The Father emerged from his bedroom a few minutes later, and then the fun began. Unfortunately, the entertainment really only lasted about two minutes, if I stretch it. The Father huffed into the living room and told Eddie to clean the breakfast dishes. Then he ordered Kailey to her bedroom. Kailey, of course, countered with, "But what about Eddie?" in her high-pitched wail; however, The Father's assurance that Edward would be sent to his bedroom after he completed his chore somehow did not satisfy Kailey, who uttered a piercing shriek as she stomped up the stairs, stomped through the hallway, and stomped into her room (slamming the door behind her).

Back in my day, The Father would have followed behind me and would have then proceeded to beat the crap out of me (or at the very least he would have yelled), but now he simply has no gumption to be much of a parent to Kailey and Mr. Ed. He just shoved them in their rooms for perhaps a half hour, an hour at most, to get them out of his hair for a short time. When they come out, they still won't have any clue about what they did wrong (or they will, but they'll bury it under their anger).

I want to move out of the house now.
