I wrote a single-stanza poem for Vellum inclusion. I entitled it "Impotence"; Mrs. Robinson thought this was a hoot.
The Creative Writing Club (a miniscule portion of its membership, anyhow) remained after school carefully selecting the order of the pieces to fit into the magazine. Carrie Lytle suggested we throw everything on the floor and scoop it all back up again. This struck me as a splendid idea, which I proceeded to ignore, as I ignore all splendid ideas.
I brought everything home to begin typing the hard-copy entries (for which we selected the "Californian FB" font, as I recall). I also must type some "letter from the Editors" thing, which ought to be a thrilling piece of work.
Mr. Morris (one of the many principals necessary to operate Katy High School) informed me Willy and the other janitors do not, in fact, vote in the Mr. and Miss KHS election. Dadgummit. And I was going to play the politician, baking everyone brownies. Well, I still might bake the janitors brownies, anyhow. Or maybe a carrot cake! Everyone loves carrot cake.
