My first day working at Marshalls went well. For starters, I'll be on register most of the time. This suits me fine. At Rainforest Cafe I couldn't be behind the register unless I was checking someone out. There was no place to hide.
The manager (Pat) said I impressed her. Score! I wasn't even aiming for "impressive"; I intended merely to show up and avoid screwing up. Pat apparently admired that I focused on the customers. Working those five months in the rainforest forced me to become more aware of the people I had to sell crap to. I might write the rainforest people a letter.
To rant for a bit: If people don't want gays to marry and enjoy the rights of other American citizens, then that means those people would also probably support a movement to exclude homosexuals from making income tax, Medicare, and Social Security payments. If you smoke pot, you support terrorism. If you retire, you support homosexual activity, whose sole purpose is to destroy the heterosexual concept of family and thereby bring about the Armageddon. If the nation classifies gays as "sub-citizens", then the economy will rebound to as-yet unsurpassed heights: the retirees who live (leech) off the generous payments of Social Security fund gay activity and are therefore un-American! Workers will be too frightened to retire. The job gap expected in the next twenty-five years due to the loss of baby boom workers is solved! Yay for scare tactics!
Maybe I need to get out of the house more.
Or maybe Congress needs to concentrate its energies on the people who want to blow up the mid-section of the North American continent rather than the millions who live in that same area and want nothing more than to remain an equitable part of it. Sheesh gamungi, folks.
It's time for bed.
