The Checkered Camel Company

I lost five pounds over the past two weeks walking to work, which is 1.2 miles away from my house (according to Map Quest). That amazes me, especially when I consider that I didn't watch what I ate at all (I actually ate out several times). Ausgezeichnet.

I stayed up last night watching Saturday Night Live (John McCain hosted); I then paced around my bedroom until three o'clock.

Aunt Pam and Uncle Chris took The Cabbage to a birthday party for the one year-old daughter of one of Pam's old employees. That gives me plenty of time during which I can accomplish nothing constructive. I'm debating about whether I want to take a shower, or simply scrub the grease out of my face and hair over the kitchen sink. Why take off my clothes? That requires too much effort.

I phoned The Father yesterday. He asked if I intended to return to K-Town for Christmas, to which I replied, 'No- I haven't the money,' to which he responded with an offer to pay for my air fare (if he can scrounge up the dough). He offered to drive up here (that's 850 miles) to fetch me if he can't break the fare out of his piggy bank. Two thoughts then flitted through my mind:
My daddy loves me.

and

Air fare from St. Louis to Houston costs more than what The Father alots himself to spend on my gifts every year. If he considers seeing him and The Mongoloids to be my Christmas gift, he can forget the whole thing and just send me money!
Is this attitude ungrateful?
