The Checkered Camel Company

Sarah, April, and I ventured into the wide dining world offered at Hasta La Pasta, where I consumed ravioli and they consumed chicken alfredo. At 2:40 p.m. we arrived back at the old school for teacher-spotting. Neither Mrs. Rogers nor Ms. Parnell were there, but we did run into Mrs. Robinson and Mr. Savallisch together, which was ever-thrilling. I chatted for a bit with Mrs. Sledz, who admitted none of her classes this year attained the intellectual heighth of my fifth period class junior year. I caught Mr. Powell in a meeting with Gary Johnson and Katharine Tims (discussing the debate tournament they are running and in which I am not judging, only because I will be eight hundred-fifty miles away).

Mr. Powers pointed out, in his typically irreverent humour, that my little sister, Kailey, will be the first in my family to bring home a 'Chico boyfriend', because she'll attend the new Morton Ranch High School. Mr. Powers is convinced it will be the new "ghetto" school, perhaps defeating Mayde Creek. I doubt it- the snooty Settlement parents will contaminate the pool with their wild ideas.

I recall the Settlement girls wore neon green "Settlement Sweeties" shirts at Project Grad. I used many adjectives to describe their little clique over the years, and I guarantee "sweeties" was never been one of them.
