The Checkered Camel Company

After closing Saturday I actually fell asleep before midnight. I awoke at 7:30 Sunday morning and lay abed for fifty minutes, debating about whether I should get up. Then Jarad (one of my managers) called and requested my immediate presence at work to relieve Mladen, who apparently had a death in the family (I was vague on the exact problem) or something equally drastic that required his attention. Since I promised Lieutenant Dan (a cashier) earlier that I would cover his evening shift, I ended up working from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. yesterday.

Jarad purchased lunch for me. He made certain I got a break, too (we were busy, for a Sunday), because Rob (another manager) is inconsiderate to the extreme and would have forgotten me entirely, if I had let him. Anyhow, Jarad knows I'm a pushover, but he doesn't try to take advantage of it. Rob knows he can call me in, and that I won't ask for a break or expect a free meal out of him.

Tina (the sales associate manager, i.e., my main boss, I suppose) told me she was grateful I don't have a life. I'm glad that my lack thereof is at least of some convenience to someone.
