The Checkered Camel Company

Theresa allowed me to vacate the Fuddruckers premises almost an hour and-a-half early. Business was slow, and I just stood around looking for things to wipe. Nick and Laura went grocery shopping, so until they return to entertain me with wild food (provolone cheese, spinach leaves, and turkey dogs) I shall process my Cat In The Hat bedsheets through the washer and dryer.

Last night I discovered Nick's stash of penny nails and his fiberglass-handled hammer. Then I had some fun with the walls of The Lauree Lair. Nick and Laura, who were in the adjoining room watching a Mad TV marathon, heard me pounding away but were too frightened to investigate until after I bounced out of the Lair to inform them I had concluded my activities. They inspected the final product and told me for the eight hundredth time that I am a bizarre child.

I did not at first believe I would warm to having sunset yellow bedroom walls, but now I rather appreciate them, because most of my wall hangings happen to be red, black, or blue (or some tint thereof), all of which coordinate well with the wall colour. It required little effort on my part.

Laura gave me a crocheted poncho she's had since she was in the sixth grade. My mother went on a field trip to Mexico that year (my mother was in eighth grade) and brought the poncho for Laura as a souvenir. I think I'll save it for Kailey, though, since she doesn't really have anything personal of our mother's; plus, Kailey takes Spanish and is very much interested in Mexican culture at this time.

Ah, Mother's Day... it approaches, one of the most depressing days of my year. I despise people and their mothers. They all make me sick.

Well... after creating that awkwardly bitter moment, I think I'll go brood in a corner somewhere until my sheets dry.
